"Will & Grace," "Lows in the Mid-Eighties" (2000)
We love a good Thanksgiving flashback, but this one was epic -- a rewind to 1985, seeing young Will struggle with his sexuality, all while home to meet his girlfriend Grace's parents. When you're hiding in a bathroom to keep from having sex with a pretty girl, calling a guy like Jack for advice instead, the answers about your sexuality should be pretty clear.
"Dawson's Creek," "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner" (1999)
In Season 3 of Kevin Williamson's hit WB series, the kids in Capeside hosted a big Thanksgiving celebration, appropriately full of uncomfortable family moments. Jen's mom stops by for an unexpected visit and the Leerys try to put on a happy face for Dawson. And it all ends with a beachside bonfire with Jen saying, "I feel like I'm in the middle of the 'Charlie Brown Christmas Special,'" while Alanis Morissette's "That I Would Be Good" plays in the background.
"Friends," "The One With All The Thanksgivings" (1996)
Considering "Friends" is the show best known for its Thanksgiving installments, it's hard to pick just one. There have been severed toes on ice, raw turkeys on heads (with and without sunglasses), a dessert that "tastes like feet," Brad Pitt as the former president of the I Hate Rachel Green Club, maternity pants, a shipping crate, a baby beauty pageant, touch football, flashing and, of course, "the list." But if we had to, we'd go with "The One With All The Thanksgivings" -- it's many Thanksgivings in one.
"Roseanne," "Home Is Where The Afghan Is" (1996)
It was the last Thanksgiving -- and the first rich one -- for the Conner clan and even though Dan was absent, there was plenty of family drama. In "Home Is Where The Afghan Is" -- one of many excellent Turkey Day installments in the series -- Roseanne has Thanksgiving catered after winning the lottery and Bev adds a little spice to the meal by unintentionally outing herself as a lesbian while ranting about the problem with gay parents. Jackie's response: "Have you acted on this? With who? When? How? No don't tell me! Pass the yams!"
"The O.C.," "The Homecoming" (2003)
Turkey Day is high-stress time in Orange County: Marissa and Ryan endure a difficult visit to Chino, and back at the Cohen household, Seth has to choose between Anna and Summer. As if there was ever really a choice!
"Surburgatory," "Thanksgiving" (2011)
In one of the strongest episodes of "Suburgatory's" debut season, Tessa and George attend the Royce's annual Thanksgiving dinner, complete with native american and pilgrim garb -- all while Lisa is refusing to wear the dress her mom Sheila picked out for her for the holiday. It also includes a few seconds of glorious Yakult vs. Dalia drama in which the blonde-haired teen screams, "Oh my god! Drop dead, Yakult ... I wish you were never born!" Gobble, gobble!
"Cheers," "Thanksgiving Orphans" (1986)
Potluck dinner for Thanksgiving, with various bar employees and regulars bringing food for the gang -- what could possibly go wrong? Aside from everything. This classic episode ends with an epic food fight; the cast must have been scrubbing mashed potatoes out of their hair for days.
"Parenthood," "Happy?Thanksgiving" (2010)
It's a Braverman Thanksgiving and there are some new additions to the table in this Season 2 episode. Crosby brings his son Jabbar, Jasmine and her mom and he wants to prove his manhood by carving the turkey, a responsibility Zeek has long held. And Sarah is joined by Gordon, Adam's boss who she's romantically involved with, despite Adam asking him not to come. The tension comes to a head when the pigskin and claws come out at the Braverman Family Turkey Bowl. But all's well that ends well: The episode wraps with siblings Adam, Sarah, Crosby and Julia cleaning up while dancing around the kitchen.
"A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" (1973)
It's not Thanksgiving until you hear, "It's Thanksgiving, Charlie Brown!""A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" first aired on CBS in 1973 before ABC brought the classic cartoon special back as an annual holiday tradition in 2011. In the special, Charlie Brown has the whole Peanuts gang over to his backyard for a Thanksgiving feast, but once realizes he only has the cooking skills for toast and sundaes, they all headed over to his Grandma's house for turkey.
"Everwood," "A Thanksgiving Tale" (2002)
"Everwood" was classic WB sentimentality at its best. The first season episode "A Thanksgiving Tale" sees Ephram racing around town to give Delia the perfect holiday like their mom used to do and Dr. Abbott doing his best to befriend the town after a health scare. Classic, wholesome "Everwood," for one of the most family-friendly holidays.
Seinfeld, "The Mom and Pop Store" (1994)
"The Mom And Pop Store" is a classic "Seinfeld" episode that features "Breaking Bad" star Bryan Cranston's first appearance on the show as Jerry's dentist Tim Whatley. He invites Elaine, Kramer, George and possibly Jerry to his Thanksgiving party, where he asks Elaine out, but she can't hear him over the loud music and declines, even though she has a crush on him. The episode also features Kramer getting bitten by Jon Voight and Jerry losing all his shoes.
"Grey's Anatomy," "Thanks for the Memories" (2005)
Izzie wants to host Thanksgiving but can't cook, so Burke comes to the rescue; George wants to avoid family time like the plague, but ends up on a hunting trip with his dad and brothers anyway to "become a man"; and Meredith is at her dark and twisty best brooding over Derek, who is being wooed back by Addison. How far they've come since then ... at least those who are still alive and working at Seattle Grace.
"Gilmore Girls," "Deep Fried Korean Thanksgiving" (2002)
There's no question that Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) are the most popular gals in town ... which is why they get invited to four Thanksgiving dinners. In "Deep Fried Korean Thanksgiving," Lorelai and Rory manage to have dinner with The Kims, Sookie and Jackson, Luke, and Grandma and Grandpa Gilmore. How do they keep up those perfect figures? The world may never know.
"Felicity," "Thanksgiving" (1998)
After leaving her parents in the dust so she can follow a boy to New York, Felicity (Keri Russell) decides to go home for Thanksgiving. But at the last minute, her plans change and she ends up spending the day with her college pals. The episode is a heartwarming one, but you have to wonder how her poor parents feel.
"Gossip Girl," "Blair Waldorf Must Pie" (2007)
Thanksgiving is always an emotional time on the Upper East Side, and this Season 1 episode is no exception. Not only are there a series of flashbacks involving a "wasted" Serena, but in the present day, Blair's struggle with bulimia is brought to light ... and it isn't pretty. Xoxo, Gossip Girl.
"Boy Meets World," "Turkey Day" (1996)
In one of the more touching "Boy Meets World" episodes, Cory and Shawn become aware of the class differences in their down when Cory (Ben Savage) and Shawn's (Rider Strong) families don't express enthusiasm over spending Thanksgiving together. There's nothing like an educational Turkey Day.
"Full House," "The Miracle of Thanksgiving" (1987)
This is what happens when three bachelors try to prepare Thanksgiving dinner while supervising four young girls: they end up with pies face-down on the floor, a charred turkey and lots of dancing in the kitchen. But it's still a heartwarming "Full House" holiday episode.
"Ugly Betty," "Four Thanksgivings and a Funeral" (2006)
Who hasn't been stuck at the office the day before a holiday, just waiting to be "released" so you can go home and slave over a hot stove instead? Everyone on "Ugly Betty's" first Thanksgiving seemed unwilling to recognize that their personal lives were in shambles compared to life at Mode, but Thanksgiving put it all into perspective: It brought a suddenly Martha Stewart-esque Wilhelmina closer with her daughter, resolved some issues with Betty and her sister Hilda and brought out the worst in a lovesick Daniel. Ah, the holidays!
"How I Met Your Mother," "Slapsgiving" (2007)
Perhaps one of the greatest running gags on "HIMYM," Marshall and Barney's slap bet has spilled over into two Thanksgiving episodes thus far. The first, and most hilarious, saw the gang attempting to have a peaceful Thanksgiving after Lily forbade Marshall from slapping Barney -- at least until Barney's gloating caused her to lift the ban. The resulting smackdown led to a spectacular musical number in which Marshall informed Barney (as if he didn't know) that he just got slapped. Feast your eyes and ears ...
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer, "Pangs" (1999)
Obviously, in a town like Sunnydale, Thanksgiving was never going to be a quiet and traditional affair. In this memorable Season 4 installment, the vengeful spirit of a Native American wreaked havoc on Buffy's day, going on a murder spree, giving Xander syphilis, malaria and smallpox and turning into a black bear to try and ruin the Turkey Day feast. Just another holiday on the Hellmouth ...
